  • Insoluble cryoprecipitate separated from cryosupernatant via centrifugation
  • Each is separated into its own product
Has reduced VWF and reduced high molecular weight multimers
  • Can be used for plasma exchange in TTP and HUS patients
  • Can be used for patients on Warfarin, where Vitamin K cannot reverse effects quickly enough, and prothrombin complex concentrate (Octaplex) is unavailable

Cryoprecipitate Contains fibrinogen, Factors VIII, XIII, VWF, and fibronectin
  • Can be used for patients requiring fibrinogen or FXIII supplementation
  • Can be used for bleeding in VWD and Factor VIII deficient patients when desmopressin (DDAVP) is ineffective and factor concentrates are unavailable
Frozen: -18°C for 12 months

Thawed: 20-24°C for 4h

Octaplasma® Solvent-Detergent (SD) Plasma Pooled plasma manufactured by Octapharma Used interchangeably with Frozen Plasma (replacing stock within Canada)
  • Removal of enveloped viruses, bacteria, protozoa, and prions
  • Removal of WBCs decreases risk of GVHD
  • Reduced risk of TRALI
RBCs for Intrauterine Transfusion Fresh RBCs (<7 days old)
  • O Rh Negative
  • Irradiated (prevent GVHD)
  • Hemoglobin S negative
  • CMV negative

Uses

  • Treatment of deficiencies in prothrombin complex coagulation factors
  • Reversal of warfarin or other Vitamin K antagonists when Vitamin K does not work or reversal is needed quickly
    • Preferred over cryosupernatant plasma for this purpose
